Jennifer Umbach

Hi, I'm Jennifer Umbach and I'm originally from the Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia area. I've always been interested in research and have been working in one lab or another since high school. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA I came here to Duke. I'm a member of the Cullen lab where we investigate microRNA processing and function. My particular area of research focuses on the various ways different viruses including HIV, Herpes Simplex, and Dengue interact with the RNAi system.

When not in lab I train in ninjitsu at a local dojo where I just successfully tested for my black belt.
