Greetings All! I work in the laboratory of Dr. Micah Luftig studying Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) growth transformation of B cells. We study the early stages of infection as a pre-oncogenic insult; while EBV will generally only give you an unpleasant case of mono (don't feel bad, 90% of adults harbor it), it can also contribute to a number of nasty neoplasms in many common, medically-compromised populations. Before coming to Duke, I attended the University of Miami (FL) where I studied Biochemistry, Microbiology, and German, while performing bacterial genetics and cystallography work. I matriculated to Duke through the Cell and Molecular Biology umbrella program and joined UPGG/MGM because of the diverse group of experts and peers Duke offers who are also encouraging and easy to interact with! When I'm not in lab, I enjoy surfing, music, exploring NC (great place!) and hanging out in Durham.
