Sumeet Singh
Hi, I am Sumeet. I completed my undergraduate from Indian Institute of
Technology, Kanpur, in India, where I studied control of plant parasites using
RNAi in my last year. Previous to that, I did two summer projects: one studying
Drosophila eye development, and the other, electrophysiology in rat and monkey
somatosensory cortex.
My major interests lie in development biology and in understanding how the
complexity of an adult body arises from the simplicity of a single cell, the
zygote. In my life, I wish to describe one process taking part in this
beautiful orchestra of genetic events. To meet such an end, I wished to learn
the tools required to study this process. Thus, I applied to the "Genetics and
Genomics" program at Duke, and was thrilled to be selected.
I was looking for a fun but intellectually motivating environment for my
graduate school, and Duke provides both of those. I have camped out for
basketball tickets with my peers. At the same time, the level of classroom
instruction is challenging. The professors are always available for
discussions and people are nice and helpful in general. It has the perfect mix
of opportunities for graduate life. I am happy with my decision to join the
school here.
Finally, if anyone out there reading this needs to talk about anything under
the sky, please contact me at Duke ID, or sumeetpalsingh@gmail.com. I will be
happy to discuss any topic.
Cheers. :)
