Hi! I graduated from UNC - Chapel Hill in 1999 with a BS Biology degree and joined the UPGG program in 2007. During my hiatus from school, I worked in several labs at NIEHS and UNC. Most recently before coming to Duke, I studied how histone modifications affect transcription in budding yeast in the lab of Brian Strahl at UNC. Now, one of my interests is trying to further understand the role of epigenetics in normal cellular function and disease.
When not in the lab, I enjoy spending time with my wife and newborn son. As hobbies go, my main ones are tennis and fishing (and any activity associated with fishing backpacking, paddling, boating), and I am having fun trying to get my son interested in these hobbies as well.
