Charlie Shaw

Greetings! I am a native of North Carolina. I remained in state to earn my bachelors of Science in Biology from Davidson College, a petite Liberal Arts school in the city of Davidson, outside of Charlotte, NC.

The area of scientific inquiry I have actively engaged myself with involves manipulating current genetic applications to further the body of understanding related to pathogens. As a member of the laboratory of Kenneth Alexander, MD, Ph.D, I work with the human papillomavirus (HPV). My thesis work involves understanding the interaction of HPV protein E1 and the human DNA polymerase alpha/primase p68 subunit in HPV DNA replication.

My research projects have been fantastic, my lab experiences have been tremendously enriching and overall I am extremely excited about being a graduate student here at Duke through the University Program in Genetics.
