Kevin Preuss

I work in the Nijhout lab studying metamorphosis and body size determination in holometabolous insects, specifically using Tribolium castaneum as a model organism. My work combines classical, quantitative, and modern molecular genetic techniques to understand how insects determine proper body size.

I was specifically attracted to the UPG(G) program because of its flexibility and range of interests. The few course requirements allow one to explore personal interests. This is not a cookie cutter program where everyone gets the same courses. You get to design your own career.
