Kristin McDonald

Hi! My name is Kristin McDonald. I became a UPGG student in Fall 2007. I majored in Biology at Birmingham-Southern College, and I gained laboratory experience by working with inflammatory disease models in Dr. Bullard’s lab at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Currently, I am rotating in Dr. Simon Gregory’s lab, where I am examining a candidate gene for involvement in coronary artery disease.

Aside from science . . . I love the Durham area so far, and I am very excited about attending Duke basketball games! I am also horse-crazy; I am a NARHA certified horse-back riding instructor for people with disabilities. I think that House is the best show on television. And, although I managed to kick a caffeine habit this summer, it is slowly creeping back into my life.
