Shannon McDermott

Hi! My name is Shannon McDermott and I'm started the UPGG Program in the summer of 2007. I'm originally from upstate New York, but have gradually moved further south as I continue my education. I completed my undergrad at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, where I studied Drosophila population genetics. I've come to Duke because of the wonderful variety of research available, and I can't wait to start doing research more-than-full-time! Aside from genetics, my interests include attending rock concerts (I recently saw Tool and afterwards decided I could die a happy woman), going for walks in the woods (and sometimes getting lost), and just generally being silly!
