Carolina Lin

My name is Carolina Lin and I grew up in Nicaragua. I came to the US for
college and joined the Dartmouth College class of 2005! After graduation, I
worked for two years as a Research Assistant in Tom Tuschl's lab at Rockefeller
University, where my interest in RNA surfaced.
I enrolled at Duke in the fall of 2007 through the CMB program and
affiliated with UPGG in my second year, after joining Mariano
Garcia-Blanco's lab. I am studying regulators of pre-mRNA alternative splicing,
particularly those that affect the splicing of the FGFR2 transcript.
Outside the lab, I enjoy cooking and baking, as well as watching my pet turtle
make a fool out of herself once in a while. She's a red-eared slider and
followed me to Duke all the way from New York City. Did you know there are
numerous red-eared sliders in the pond at the Duke Gardens?
