Sehoon Keum

Hi! I am Sehoon. I grew up in Seoul, Korea. My career in biology started at Hanyang University and then I got my master’s degree in mouse genetics at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). After graduation, I worked at a pharmaceutical company as a researcher for five years. Specifically, I studied how the genetic polymorphism could affect disease susceptibility or drug metabolism. This work experience made me interested in genetic studies on human complex diseases and pharmacogenomics.
Since I entered the UPGG in 2005, I have joined Dr. Doug Marchuk's lab which has been studying inherited human vascular diseases. My project is to identify genetic risk factors critical to infarction damage from focal cerebral ischemia (stroke) using mouse QTL analysis.
I think . . . I really enjoy my time at Duke. The UPGG is a great program with supportive faculty, friendly students, and great science.
