Hi there! I am a local from Raleigh, North Carolina, and I graduated from North Carolina State University in the spring of 2006. As an undergraduate at NCSU I worked as a research assistant through the work-study program in various labs studying everything from the functions of protein chaperones in maize to genes influencing ethanol tolerance in fruit flies. After graduation I decided to work for a couple of years at the Duke Center for Human Genetics in the Gregory lab, focused on finding genes related to coronary artery disease. I decided to persue my graduate career at Duke University due to the wealth of faculty and resources available for studying human disease and gene expression..
