Claudia Dollins
My name is Claudia Dollins. I grew up in Herne, Germany and studied Psychology at the Ruhr University Bochum. I then moved to the US where I received my Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry in 2001 from the Oklahoma State University. It was there that I had my first brush with research in my undergraduate work with Dr. Richard Essenberg and Dr. Marie Petracek.
After graduation, I worked at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Dr. Kenneth Miller’s laboratory where I worked to elucidate the biochemistry of the synaptic transmission in C. elegans.
I have joined the lab of Bruce Sullenger. My project involves RNA aptamers. RNA aptamers are short single stranded oligonucleotides which have been shown to inhibit the function of proteins with high specificity. My thesis project involves the development of an aptamer that can be used in cancer immunotherapy.
