Brooke Ancrile

I grew up in Michigan and went to college at Michigan State University, where I obtained a B.S. in Zoology with a concentration in Genetics. While at MSU, my undergrad thesis project involved examining the combined effects of vitamin D and retinoids as chemopreventive agents for prostate cancer, and my involvement with this project sparked my interest in pursuing a career in cancer research. I came to Duke in 2004 and joined the lab of Dr. Chris Counter. We are interested in examining the genetic requirements for cellular transformation and the development of normal cells into human cancers, which allows me to combine my interests in genetics and human disease. I am enjoying my time at Duke, where the flexible UPGG program consists of supportive faculty, friendly students, and great science.
