Kaylin Adipietro

My name is Kaylin and I came to Duke in 2007 through the CMB program and joined UPGG in 2008. I graduated in 2005 from Allegheny College in PA with a B.S. in Biology and decided to take some time off before coming to graduate school. I worked for two years at the NIH/NIDCD studying ligand-induced conformational changes in Family 3 GPCRs and became slightly obsessed with seven transmembrane receptors in general. I made the wonderful decision of joining the lab of Hiroaki Matsunami and have been studying the evolution and selectivity of primate olfactory receptors. The research my lab conducts is incredibly exciting and the environment is perfect for interdisciplinary research. Speaking of the environment – I am not quite used to the warm weather of NC, but it is convenient that Duke is located in between mountains and beaches. A wonderful added bonus to being here for graduate school!
